Ground Beef Tacos

Ingredients:

For the beef filling:

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 tsp chili powder

  • 1 tsp ground cumin

  • 1 tsp smoked paprika

  • ½ tsp dried oregano

  • ½ tsp salt (or to taste)

  • ¼ tsp black pepper

  • ¼ cup tomato sauce (or 2 tbsp tomato paste + splash of water)

  • ¼ cup water (if needed to loosen the sauce)

For serving:

  • 8 small taco shells (soft or crunchy)

  • Shredded lettuce

  • Diced tomatoes

  • Shredded cheese (cheddar, Monterey Jack, or your choice)

  • Sour cream

  • Salsa or hot sauce

  • Chopped cilantro or green onions (optional)

  • Lime wedges


🔥 Instructions:

  1. Cook the Beef:

    • Heat a skillet over medium-high heat.

    • Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned (5–6 minutes).

    • Drain excess grease if needed.

  2. Add Onion & Garlic:

    • Add chopped onion and garlic to the beef and cook for 2–3 minutes until softened.

  3. Season the Meat:

    • Stir in chili powder, cumin, paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper.

    • Add tomato sauce and a splash of water if too thick.

    • Simmer on low for 5 minutes until everything is well combined and flavorful.

  4. Prepare the Toppings:

    • While beef simmers, warm your taco shells and prep the toppings.

  5. Assemble the Tacos:

    • Spoon the beef mixture into taco shells.

    • Top with lettuce, tomato, cheese, sour cream, salsa, and any extras you like.
