Waffles

Waffles are a delightful breakfast treat with a crispy exterior and fluffy interior. Here’s how to make classic waffles at home:

Waffles Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 3/4 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Waffle Iron:

    • Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients:

    • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Mix Wet Ingredients:

    • In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients:

    • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients.
    • Stir until just combined. The batter should be slightly lumpy, but do not over-mix.
  5. Cook the Waffles:

    • Lightly grease the preheated waffle iron with cooking spray or melted butter.
    • Pour enough batter onto the center of the waffle iron to just cover the waffle grid (usually about 1/2 to 3/4 cup, depending on the size of your waffle iron).
    • Close the waffle iron and cook according to the manufacturer’s instructions, usually 3-5 minutes, or until the waffles are golden brown and crisp.
  6. Serve:

    • Carefully remove the waffles from the iron and serve immediately.
    • Keep waffles warm in a 200°F (93°C) oven if making multiple batches.

Topping Ideas:

  • Classic: Butter and maple syrup.
  • Berry Delight: Fresh berries and whipped cream.
  • Nutty Banana: Sliced bananas, chopped nuts, and a drizzle of honey.
  • Chocolate Lovers: Chocolate chips in the batter or drizzled with chocolate sauce.
  • Savory: Crispy fried chicken, a drizzle of honey, and a sprinkle of hot sauce.

Tip:

  • If you have leftover waffles, you can freeze them and reheat in a toaster for a quick breakfast later!

These waffles are versatile and can be enjoyed with sweet or savory toppings, making them a perfect addition to any breakfast or brunch menu.
