Mini Pizzas

Mini pizzas are fun, customizable, and perfect for a quick snack or party appetizer. Here's how you can make them:

Mini Pizzas Recipe

Ingredients:

For the Dough (or use store-bought pizza dough):

  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 3/4 cup warm water (110°F or 45°C)
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

For the Toppings:

  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Your choice of toppings: pepperoni, sliced mushrooms, bell peppers, onions, olives, etc.
  • Fresh basil or dried oregano (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Dough (Skip if using store-bought dough):

    • In a small bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Stir and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
    • In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil.
    • Mix until the dough comes together, then knead on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
    • Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  2. Preheat Oven:

    • Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to preheat as well.
  3. Divide the Dough:

    • Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 8-12 equal portions, depending on how small you want your mini pizzas to be.
    • Roll each portion into a small round, about 4-5 inches in diameter.
  4. Assemble the Pizzas:

    • Place the mini pizza rounds on a parchment-lined baking sheet (or directly on the preheated pizza stone if using).
    • Spread a spoonful of pizza sauce over each round, leaving a small border around the edges.
    • Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce, then add your choice of toppings.
    • If desired, sprinkle fresh basil or dried oregano on top.
  5. Bake:

    • Bake the mini pizzas in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Serve:

    • Remove the mini pizzas from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving.

Topping Ideas:

  • Classic Pepperoni: Sliced pepperoni, mozzarella, and pizza sauce.
  • Vegetarian: Bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, olives, and fresh spinach.
  • Hawaiian: Ham, pineapple, and mozzarella.
  • Margherita: Fresh tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil leaves.

These mini pizzas are perfect for kids, parties, or as a fun family dinner where everyone can customize their own!
